RRU Angry Bird (vividaquarium)
Tons of birds out there- a couple of note. This is a beauty. Deep blue with a nice bright yellow band around the inside of a happy polyp; the yellow blinks as the polyps move around in high flow. Can’t wait for this develop into a colony!

Tapioberry
Another bright one; this one glows blue. I’m pretty sure this is a local name of a sdr reefer. It’s like pearlberry but not. Got mine at PK, likely sourced by one of you….

Beautiful, thicker branched wonder, a hardy light loving acro! I have fond memories of this one. I actually remember the story on it pretty well I think. The short version goes like this. Local reefer Tapio had been bringing in chunks of it from his colony pretty frequently to PK. As nice as it was, it obviously wasn't the famous ora pearlberry so we were just calling it tapio's pearlberry. Eventually someone just got lazy and called it "tapioberry" and then that's what we started selling them as. Then I sold some to ASD when I had too many as tapioberry and the name stuck even more once it hit their website lol. Anyway, would love to get a piece of this back someday. It's a classic, good on ya for holding onto and growing it!

Made mostly of frogs, octos & hammers. Most recently I got some wall octos from ASD. The high grade gold branching hammer in the back is the matriarch and came with the 180 I purchased in 2017. I banked it with a local reefer met on sdr and then lost my colony. Just earlier this year needing space- he offered it back. Needless to say- he’s welcome to anything in my tank. The RF nem is almost as old from ASD at 2018. The green nem s are even older and grabbed off of sdr near the beginning of my journey in 2015-16; it has been splitting and surviving ever since. Always looking for unique octos!

Just reading your write up is giving me anxiety lol. Thanks for sharing I always enjoy others write ups on their systems.
Ha! I can understand that. The way I figure it- I have a spot where I can recall coral names and history and a reference for anyone backing me up on my system should that be needed. As a side benefit i hope it draws out SD’s rich coral expertise to keep me on track. I enjoy write ups too and much rather learn lessons vicariously.

Some early morning shots (no filter)

Newer to the system it’s nice to see it warm up. Looks great in the morning and even better during the day. Colonies of this have a mix of purples blue gold yellows and reds. Every colony pic I’ve seen of this coral is stunning and I have high hopes.

I believe it’s a granulosa; bright mix of pinks and red. It’s Another morning eye catcher. Wish it would start growing upward instead of continuing to head down the aquadome. If it keeps moving down I’m going to try adhering a stem to the bottom of the dome (idea is it will start growing up instead of under the dome (just a theory).1742748465771.jpeg

I’m a fan of full spectrum; a nice coral during the day with light hues of green and pink; in blue with orange filters this acro comes alive, glowing vibrant pinks.. one of the largest contrasts from day to night.
