I walked in there today for the first time in months. I told them I wanted to pick out my own corals, as I was always able to do that before. They absolutely refused; that's the policy with the new owners.

In addition to that the selection of corals up front was pretty sad. These guys just don't have a clue of their increasingly bad reputation. It seems they just don't care about business from locals. The kid at the counter was perfectly fine with me never coming back.
 
I had a recent experience on my birthday on July 2nd. The conversation was super awkward and they were going to let in the back for "10 minutes" in their words, but demanded i look on their website to show them what i wanted before i would be allowed back in. Their website never has everything updated and finally i just walked out.
 
From what I heard today their tanks are crushing. Im not sure but thats what I've heard. I went into that store one time years ago and they were so rude I left and never went back. Not sure if its the same owner or not.

Pardon this 65 year old. By crushing you mean doing badly or did you mean crashing?
 
I was there a few weeks ago. Yes, they mentioned that Will isn’t the owner at this time. I’ve requested a custom tank quote and it’s been a month. I’ve asked the counter person to ask the gentleman in the back regarding the request and waited 20 minutes. I just left.

Isn’t the owner or the store manager? The R2R post I see from a while back suggested Will was just looking for a store manager and he would retain ownership of the store/brand

Im sure Will is still involved and has some ownership. It is highly likely he signed at least a 5 year lease and that comes with a personal guarantee to his landlord. I know, Ive done it 3 times; the chances the landlord let's him off the hook are nil.

It's pretty obvious they are not interested in the retail side of there business.
 
The other day I drove over there to find they changed Store hours to Monday-Friday 5pm-7pm, forgot what it said for Saturday and Sunday. From my understanding Will sold the business.

Last month I ordered some coral on line, (support your LFS) and they were closed when i dropped in at what used to be normal business hours. THEY DON"T answer the phone (What used to be normal business practice) so I think that they are struggling to find a new business identity, because Will wanted out and the new owner(s) are running it as the classic chop shop model of coral retailing on-line. Hopefully they will survive and thrive and have a store with normal hours in 2026?
 
they’ve never focused on the walk in clientele. I’ve walked into their store with wads of cash wanting to purchase coral in their display I was told purchase it online and I can pick it up later. Forget it I’ll just purchase from local reefers instead
