Calcium Reactor Advice

Hey just looking for any advice or maybe YouTube videos that anyone finds particular helpful for setting up my first calcium reactor.

Appreciate any help!

I don’t have any refs, but have been using one for years. LMK if you have any specific questions.

Think of the reactor as a alkalinity reactor, and not a calcium reactor. I have always ran the free-flow method and adjust PH via a controller because tuning drips gets frustrating, and it always got clogged up. I would also recommend you have the effluent run near the intake of your skimmer to "burn off" any excess CO2. LMK if you have any questions when setting it up.

Agreed. I keep mine flowing faster than just dripping. Too slow and the needle valve will clog. I use a small rio pump to feed and keep the chamber at pH 6.7 using a Milwaukee controller and carbon doser regulator.

I use the same setup. I should calibrate the PH probe more often than I do, but I can usually tell if something is off by looks. I haven't bought a coral in years.

I run calcium reactor for my set up, from years of experience, I still believe with proper monitoring and adequate controller it’s cal is king in keeping things stable. I put my bubble at 3, I control my effluent line and monitor your alk consumption it’s that easy. Need more alk adjust your effluent line to add more drips, I use apex to keep my ph with in the reactor at 6.5 by turning the carbon doser on and off depending on the ph inside the reactor.
