I'm back!

I think I’m leaving out like another 5-6 OG Sdreefs members, also need to figure out how to get my OG account back.
Some have moved away, Marlin/waterpoloman, Jessy, John/Nohtanoj, Chris/lotsafishies,Marde, fishnfrags, some have passed on, Jasper, Larry M, Dan/Inurmind, Bob Fenner
Not sure where Jules is or Fishaholic, Mazilla, Vince 73, but I gave Vince some gear a couple years ago.
That's about the limit of my OG memory at this moment.
Some remain and some that moved away pop in now and then.
I miss the old days w/ Ron and Octopus garden, and we used to have such great meetings and frag swaps
Good to see some old schooler names checking in!

I was only active here for a little while back in the mid 2k's. Then life happened, I moved away for a few years and grew up a bit before returning. Ron and Octopuss Garden along with SDreefs were great influences on my younger reefing days. Many of the member names metioned here sound famililiar. I am glad to see many of the OG reefers who's threads and corals I watched back then are either still here, or they are coming back to the community.

SDReefs is were I got my initial "jab" in this hobby and after many years away I am happy to see that this forum and community is still going strong. I am currently on a full reefing relapse and couldn't be happier to enjoy it with this group here.

Yeah, I’m sure many have moved on, it’s also a shame that forums have mostly gone away. I’m in Raleigh now, but moving to Chicago next month. After about a stint of 11 years in the military I fly for an airline now.

Well that's awesome to hear and congratulations on your pilots license!
I'll be sure to keep a lookout more now! :)

Wow so many memories / OG's.

Wait, did Dan / Inurmind pass away?? When / what happened? First I've heard of that. That makes me sad. Dan was a great guy.. I helped him move / plumb / deep clean several tanks. :(

Yes, very sad to say Dan passed away from cancer just over 3 years ago.
I met w/ him just before, I took on his Malu sea anemone and Dan was happy it was going to a good home, and I still have that.
I really admired his strength and positive attitude in dealing with everything.
A year after his family hired me to do the remodel on his home which Dan and I had talked about previous years.
He had wonderful parents and they were very emotional and missed him greatly, and I will never forget it was his Mothers Birthday, and she was very heavy hearted that day, and kind of out of nowhere we had a short blast of rain that morning which resulted in a double rainbow viewable from his balcony, and as quickly as the rain came the sun came out and turned to a beautiful day.
They use his home now to gather as family and remember Dan.
I took a pic w/ phone but the double rainbow is not as visible in pic as in person, but you can kinda see it faintly.

I miss Dan; RIP to a good friend & legitimate reefer to the end; thanks for sharing Dave- the pic & story are bitter sweet. Hard to believe it has already been 3yrs

Happy to share, and I always feel that you and (Derick?/fiftytwopounder) deserve so much respect and credit for taking on the insanely arduous task of helping Dan break down his tanks and rehome his animals he loved so much.
Many just can not fathom what a huge task that was, and Dan was so appreciative and his family were greatly as well and I heard them state that often.
Yeah, 3 years, had to double check my saved messages to confirm, and still feel the bittersweet in discussing this am, and weird happens to be my bday today and I'm remembering Dan and looking at his anemone right now, w/ a slight gut lump remembering a good guy/reefer and his family.

Hey SDReefs!

After almost 10 years of spending most of my time up in the Bay area, I'm back in town for good. I am still working for Neptune Systems (now Aperture Pet & Life), still doing IT and engineering work, but in a fully remote role.

I currently have a Waterbox 130.3 running here. That was just tons 'o fun to move from my office up in Morgan Hill. LOL. It's FO at this time - I gave away all my corals (except a 'nem) to colleagues before I did the tank move. Sadly, and surprisingly, that beautiful big Black Widow-like 'nem did not survive the tank relocation 😢.

Just perusing some latest posts, I see some familiar folks are still around - Peter, Dan, Daveocean, Chris, to name a few I saw. Any other old-timers still active?

Are there any local clubs still in existence? Someone told me at RAP last fall that there are none these days.
Thinking hey, about time we get back to hearing from OP RussM and how's your reef comeback going so far man?
And thanks for helping some of the OG popping back on the boards, been a cool somewhat cyber reunion of sorts!
