Hello reefers
Im about to buy a RO/DI system for my 60 gal tank
Not too long ago my tank crashed because I was lazy and started buying water from different fish stores around my area.
Short story long Im not doing the same mistake, I do 10 gals water change every week
Im thinking of buying the 4 RO/DI system from BRS
Im in San Marcos, my water district is Vallecitos, I haven’t do any research on their parameters for their source water
What do you guys recommend!
I would appreciate any feedback
Thanks

Hi
I have a 90 gallon with a 30 gallon sump this is what I use and it’s worked for me for over two years.
I replace the cartridges once a month for 30 bucks.
Hope this helps.

Recommend looking for the 5 stage BRS or Aquatic Life Systems. Water in north county is not great and really burns though filters, so having the larger canisters and two resin chambers will help extend the life of the filtration before needing replacement.

I spend about $45 on filters and get probably 1000 gallons out of them. A good rule of thumb is to change first 3 stages of filtration every 6-8 months and DI resin once you see it’s visually spent (color changing resin) or if you are seeing a few tds creep up.

Where do you get your filters from? The BRS branded products are bit more expensive but I don’t see the extra value for the extra cost

Not sure if you use facebook marketplace but I saw some 5/6 stage rodi filters going on sale for <$100 recently. Pretty good deal and you can just swap out the filters for an affordable price.

I believe gcristobal has a Brs 6 stage available for a really good price

I have a brand new in box 7 stage RODI unit from BRS if your interested let me know. If buying used look at how much it is 2 replace all the filters/ membranes of the unit first. At the end of the day I find it comes out to be around the same cost as new. Last thing you want to do is buy used and keep using the old filters/ membranes. I also recommend you getting a chloramines monster from BRS definitely worth it. Special if keeping SPS !
